Worn Again
Worn Again Shoes
Worn Again is a collection of shoes and accessories made from recycled materials from forgotten sources such as leather from car seats, seatbelts, bicycle tyres and recycled rubber for the soles to parachute silk and tweed jackets. Look out for an ingredients label on each product that tells you what rubbish went into making it!
Worn Again Shoes, Upcycle of the Recycles
Who would imagine that bicycle tires, parachute silk, prison blankets, car seats and seatbelts, rubber soles and tweed jackets, all used and recycled, can still be turned into usable and fashionable footwear? That is all the rubbish that goes into the creation of the increasingly popular Worn Again shoes under the Terra Plana umbrella. Worn Again simply believed that some things should not just go to waste like the 1,000,000 tons of textiles annually thrown away in UK.
Why Upcycle?
Worn Again is a double A brand of footwear that makes the recycles go upcycle by producing stylish and useful products out of it. Double A here stands for Anti-Apathy. The company believes that it is about time that people stops being indifferent to what is happening in the environment and the whole world for that matter. Each one should start showing concern and give any possible help, even just the smallest, to contribute to an improved environment, thereby, a better world to live in. A percentage of the sales made from the Worn Again shoes are used to support the Anti-Apathy movement which has already become a registered charity since 2002. Worn Again shoes are receiving much acclaim due to its causes. It was even voted “No. 1 Eco-Fashion Brand”. It started business in collaboration with Terra Plana but is now standing on its own.
Its unheard of!
Many people may not know it but the fashion industry is one of those that creates for the world much pollution. Not only does it produce toxic chemicals, many of these even offer poor labor standards. Worn Again goes against these and takes an approach that allows for the creation of shoes and other products that takes into great consideration the materials used, the labour standards and the energy used in the production of the footwear. It also addresses the impact of their activities on the climate change and trade.
Great looking shoes from Worn Again
It is the aim of Worn Again to produce great looking shoes and other products for good looking people that will not carry any guilty conscience. They are slowly but surely working on proving that this can be done. Worn Again materials are sourced from places closest to where the footwear will be produced so that carbon emissions are reduced when less travels are made in delivering materials to the place of production.
When did Worn Again start manufacturing?
Worn Again started manufacturing footwear made of raw materials in China with every intention of moving it closer to home. Now, Worn Again footwear production is now in Portugal and Mike Corbett, United Kingdom’s one of the most successful and experienced footwear designer is designing for Worn Again. He is very passionate about creating fashionable items from rubbish.
What are Worn Again’s beliefs?
Worn Again further believes that those responsible for making the products they sell should greatly benefit from it rather than be exploited by it. It is therefore their focus to give their workers a quality working condition and even improve their social condition. With the great goals Worn Again has, it is hard for anybody not to support their honorable endeavors, not to mention their fashionable shoes.
